If you have several animals to look after you, usually buy larger quantities directly. But what is often not taken into account is that food in large bags or cans is exposed to humidity and oxidation processes longer than food from smaller packs. By the time wholly consumed, the quality of the feed may have decreased significantly. You can use these simple tricks to keep your cat food fresh.
How to Store dry food properly:

Dry food should be stored in a plastic container with a tightly fitting lid, ideally in a dark, cool, and dry place. In this way, it can absorb little or no humidity, and it remains crisp, fresh, and aromatic.
Tip: Transfer the use-by date from the original packaging to the plastic container. This will prevent you from accidentally crossing it.

Store wet food properly
Wet food is bought in cans or sachets. Portion bags have the advantage that their contents are sufficient for precisely one meal, and therefore no further storage is required. The quality of the feed is, therefore, always optimal.
Cans are available in different sizes. Depending on this, they may require storage for one or more days. If you use up the contents of a can within a day, you can keep the food in a cool place outside the refrigerator. If you want to store them for more than a day, the food must be in the fridge. Since cans can oxidize and release toxins, it is advisable to transfer the contents to a plastic container.
The food should be removed from the refrigerator approximately 30 to 60 minutes before serving. It allows it to return to room temperature, and the flavoring substances in the feed can develop again. Since their sense of smell firmly guides cats, they will also accept the cold food more poorly.
Tip: If you don’t have time, you can stir a few spoons of warm water into the food to bring it back to room temperature.

Keeping served cat fresh food and clean
The quality of wet food, in particular, can be affected by various external factors. These include, for example, temperature, sunlight, and vermin infestation. Cats are spotless animals and can quickly spoil your appetite. Dirty shells, a dry crust, or even fly larvae in the food ensure that the food is not eaten.
Feeding bowls should therefore be cleaned regularly and placed in a cool place away from windows. It reduces the risk of flies getting onto the food. Food bowls with motion-controlled lids only open when the cat approaches to eat. After eating, the lid closes automatically. This function allows the cat food to be kept fresh and protected from drying out and vermin and dirt.
